Prevent Blindness Honors SJS Investment Services,
Scott Savage with 2021 People of Vision Award

March 25, 2021 (Toledo, OH) The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness was proud to honor Scott Savage and SJS Investment Services with the People of Vision Award virtually, on March 24, 2021.

Since 1985, The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness has recognized and awarded select organizations and their leaders for visionary leadership and community service. The People of Vision Award event has become one of Northwest Ohio’s premier charitable events in support of the Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness (PBO) and its mission to prevent blindness and preserve sight.

As last year’s honoree, Mercy Health North chaired the event and Bob Baxter, President, presented the award to Scott Savage, Founder & CEO of SJS Investment Services. Baxter asked that we join in honoring them for their extensive philanthropic work in Northwest Ohio.

“In 1995, Scott started SJS Investment Services, based on a very simple premise that originated during his childhood and has since become part of his DNA: Put others before self. And if there is a phrase that defines SJS Investment Services, that would be the one. It has helped the company choose its team of seasoned financial professionals—people of like heart and mind—and it has helped the company achieve countless milestones of service and growth,” explained Baxter. “Scott is active in local civic endeavors including leadership roles in the Toledo Metroparks, International Samaritan, St. John’s Jesuit High School and has served on numerous boards and committees serving Northwest Ohio.”

Savage accepted the honor saying, “I believe that the measure of any community is how that community walks hand-in-hand with the most vulnerable among us, and organizations like Prevent Blindness are just the kind of organizations that demonstrate that hand up that many others in the community take advantage of and help with, and pull together to make sure we’re all having the opportunities that we all should have.”

“On behalf of SJS Investment Services and the team of people that I work with that, next to family, I love more than anybody in the world, I want to thank them for 25 years of a lot of firsts and a lot of fun. We’re really excited about the future and I’m really excited about supporting Prevent Blindness,” Savage said.

Half of all blindness is preventable and the number of individuals who are blind or visually impaired is expected to double by the year 2030 if nothing is done to address the problem. Furthermore, it is estimated that the economic impact of visual disorders and disabilities costs approximately $5.4 billion annually in Ohio.
