Prevent Blindness Honors McGohan Brabender
with the 2022 People of Vision Award

February 11, 2022 (Dayton, OH) Prevent Blindness, Ohio Affiliate, (PBO) was proud to honor McGohan Brabender and CEO, Scott McGohan, with the People of Vision Award on February 8, 2022 at the Dayton Country Club.

Since 1985, The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness has recognized and awarded select organizations and their leaders for visionary leadership and community service. The People of Vision Award event has become one of the Miami Valley’s premier charitable events in support of The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness (PBO) and its mission to prevent blindness and preserve sight.

After receiving the 2021 People of Vision Award last year, Dan McCabe and CareSource served as chair of this year’s event. McCabe asked that we join him in honoring McGohan Brabender and Scott McGohan for their amazing commitment to the Miami Valley.

McGohan serves as CEO of McGohan Brabender, a leading health insurance broker which has been helping employers maximize benefits while minimizing costs for 50 years. Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, McGohan Brabender simplifies the delivery of employee benefits for companies across Ohio and Indiana.

McGohan Brabender believes it is important to support and give back to their Greater Dayton community and that the importance of giving back to the community goes beyond “doing our job.”  Through MB Gives Back!, each year one business day is allotted to each McGohan Brabender employee to assist a charity of their choice. So instead of reporting to the office, employees take a day and work in the community.  Additionally, McGohan Brabender is a proud sponsor of several nonprofits that benefit the communities they employ.

In presenting the award to McGohan, McCabe said, “I know Scott not only as a great businessman and a community leader, but also as a friend.  Scott gives so much of his time to so many great causes.  He especially cares about the youth of our community and invests countless hours to mentor and support young people, especially those who are economically challenged.”

Growing up with Amblyopia, or a “lazy eye,” McGohan knows the importance of eye health screening, education and early detection. “Thank you very much for this acknowledgment. It is an honor and a blessing. Prevent Blindness does so much beautiful work for so many people. Thank you for the difference you make in so many parts of our country. Thank you for keeping your passion for this work alive. God gives us so much to see in our lives and your work keeps this vision alive for people,” he said.

“Prevent Blindness, Ohio Affiliate is proud to honor McGohan Brobender with the People of Vision Award,” Amy Pulles, President and CEO of PBO stated, “and we look forward to them chairing the 2023 event.”
