Medicaid

Medicaid is a state-run insurance program, typically based upon an individual or family’s financial status. Every state has different coverage, application, eligibility and providers.

Medicaid Expansion is an additional program decided by each state, often called the Affordable Care Act and sometimes also called the expansion group or Group VIII (8). Working Ohioans aged 19-64 can enroll in Medicaid coverage if earning less than 138% of the annual Federal Poverty Level.

Treatment for vision related diagnosis
Glaucoma Screening: Often covered
Diabetic Eye Exam: Covered
Cataract Surgery: Covered
Post-Cataract Corrective Lenses: Covered
Macular Degeneration Treatment: Covered
Routine vision examination – generally covered:
- For members under 21 years old – one exam and eyeglasses every 12 months
- For members 21 to 59 years old – one exam and eyeglasses every 24 months
- For members over 60 years old – one exam and eyeglasses every 12 months
