SUMMARY:2025 Scientific Forum
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a Scientific Forum featuring the\n2025 recipients of the Prevent Blindness Ohio Young Investigator\nStudent Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research\nWhen: Tuesday\, November 18\, 2025\, from to 1:00 to 2:00 pm\nWhere: Your computer via Teams\nRegister here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2025Scientificforum\n  \nJoin the meeting here!\nMeeting ID: 257 706 112 212 9\nPasscode: pd9zC3W5\n\nPresenters\n\nElectra Coffman is a Ph.D. candidate in the Molecular\, Cellular\, and Developmental Biology program at The Ohio State University. She is conducting her research with the College of Optometry. Her research has critical implications for understanding age-dependent cataract formation\, a common and potentially blinding disorder with poorly understood etiology.\n\n \nPooja Nambiar is a Case Western Reserve medical student conducting her research with the Cole Eye Institute – Ocular Motility and Vision Neurosciences Lab. Her research is related to visuomotor dysfunction in Parkinson’s patients. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive\, neurodegenerative disorder that affects over 10 million people worldwide. Up to 70% of individuals with PD experience visual symptoms such as double vision\, trouble focusing\, and reduced depth perception; these can make daily tasks such as reading and walking more difficult. Debilitating visual symptoms are common in Parkinson’s patients\, yet this area remains underexplored\, leaving this population underrepresented and underserved in current vision research and care efforts.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to honor the vision and impact of community leaders\nand help in the fight against blindness by participating in the 2025 People of Vision Celebration! \nTuesday\, February 4\, 2025\n11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.\nWindows on the River\, FirstEnergy Powerhouse\n2000 Sycamore Street\, Cleveland OH 44113\nKeynote Speaker\nJim Tressel\nFormer Ohio State University\nFootball Coach\n& Retired President of\nYoungstown State University\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nThe People of Vision event was established in 1985 by Prevent Blindness Ohio to celebrate and recognize corporations and their leaders for outstanding philanthropic works they have undertaken. The event has evolved into the People of Vision Celebration where community visionaries are invited to share with guests their personal journey\nin establishing a vision for their community and seeing it through to fruition. \nProceeds from the event benefit the sight-saving programs\nand services provided by PBO in our community. \nPrevent Blindness Ohio\, founded in 1957\, is Ohio’s leading volunteer nonprofit public health organization dedicated to preventing blindness and preserving sight. It serves all 88 Ohio counties\, providing direct services (vision screening\, vision screening training\, access to care\, and education) to 1\,000\,000 Ohioans each year. However\, thousands of Ohioans still lack access to comprehensive eye care\, and the number of aging Ohioans continues to grow.  These factors\, coupled with the current economic situation\, require that PBO continues to expand its eye health and safety services in Ohio. \n\n\nSponsorships are available here!\nRegister and pay HERE\n  \n\n\nWE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR SPONSORS!\nCORPORATE\nAEG\nEdgePoint\nPLIDCO\nVISION\nRCF Group\nINDIVIDUAL\nFirst National Bank\nBoyd Pethel\nDavid Sherriff\nMike Shiplett
